Texjet NG Series Printers: Common issues at Printer Manager software

A guide on how to resolve common issues witnessed on Texjet NG software: Printer Manager.

Either due to software crashes or accidental user interference, important settings on Printer Manager might be lost or changed. That results in low quality printings, either by printing low amount of ink, losing sharpness at the small details or creating an idol on the edges of the design.

Below are the main points to check when facing such issues:

Main Interface:

If when printing, the result is blur or the details are less sharp than usual, first make sure the platen is in the right height, and the gap between the head surface and the media, is at 2mm.

In addition check that the BIDIR cell in the main interface of the Printer Manager has a value other than 0.

If it is 0, Click on the Main Menu and navigate to Settings and Load Calibration Parameters. Browse through the backup folder of your NG Printer (e.g. NGxxxxxxxx), that is located on the Desktop and load the latest calibration parameters file.

Caution:

  • After each head replacement, and repeat of the head alignment process, take a backup of the new Calibration Settings

Layout Settings:

Click on the Main Menu button and navigate to Settings and Layout Settings.

Layout List. In this section there are the different printhead layout that the software uses. Under normal circumstances there should be only two of them. One for black, colored and dtf queues, that use both the white and color heads (e.g. for NG140: 4Heads_2XW_2XC) and one for the white colored queues that use only the color heads (e.g. for NG140: 4Heads_2XC).

4

LayerNum. The heads are presented as Layers. First are the white heads and then the color ones. At each of the options on the Layout List the appropriate Layers should be ticked. E.g. for the 4Heads_2XW_2XC, all four layers should be selected while for the 4Heads_2XC only the Layer3 and Layer4

Layer Setting. The Yinterleave, YContinue, Yoffset and SubLayerNum should not be changed as they are determine the position of the head inside the head carriage.

The Enable option should always be selected at every layout option from the Layout List, in addition to the channels according to the head type. E.g. for the 4Heads_2XW_2XC, the Layer1 and Layer2 should have the W1,W2,W3,W4 selected while the Layer3 and Layer4, the Y,M,C,K.

Note:

  • If you experience poor white coverage or banding while nozzle test is good, make sure the correct layers are selected in each different layout and the appropriate channels are enabled.
  • You can load the Polyprint default settings by clicking on Import and navigating to the backup folder of your NG printer (e.g. NGxxxxxxxx), that is located on the Desktop.

Caution:

  • After each head replacement, and the new Yoffset values, take a backup of the new Layout Settings, by clicking the export button.
