Inks & Pretreatment Liquids: Fixation times and temperatures

The suggested curing conditions of the ink sets and pretreatment solutions that Polyprint offers, depending on the fabric color and the curing equipment available.

Pretreatment Liquids

Texjet Inks - Pretreatment for Lights is the precoating solution that is used in light-colored cotton and synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon, or blends. Its application results in elevated print vividness and wash endurance.

Suggested fixation conditions: 30 seconds at 160 oC (320 F) in a heat press, protective sheet recommended.

Texjet Inks - Pretreatment for Darks is the standard pretreatment solution regarding dark-colored cotton fabric applications, where white ink is required. It can also be used on blends, but only for those with up to 50% cotton.

Suggested fixation conditions: 30 seconds at 160 oC (320 F) in a heat press, protective sheet recommended.

Tip: The amount of fixation time depends heavily on the thickness of the substrate and the quantity of liquid sprayed. For example, for a standard t-shirt that is sprayed with 21ml of Dark Pretreatment, 30 seconds suffice for the drying of the solution. For a hoodie that is sprayed with 40ml, then you must increase or almost double the drying time, so you have accurate printing results.

Texjet Inks are Polyprint’s official ink solution. They are specifically formulated to optimize the performance of the whole range of Texjet printer models. Their enhanced characteristics provide stability, superior white coverage with a single pass, high productivity due to fast curing, and boosted wash endurance.

CMYK inks suggested fixation conditions: 40 seconds at 160 oC in a heat press, protective sheet recommended. If used in hot air oven dryer, 3 minutes at 170 oC is recommended.

CMYKW inks suggested fixation conditions: 120 seconds at 160 oC in a heat press, protective sheet recommended. If used in hot air oven dryer, about 6 minutes at 170 oC is recommended.

Learn how to cure your designs according to the equipment used. Check the curing process when using a heatpress and for an oven dryer.

Note: The previous ink lines supported by Polyprint were the Polyprint Inks powered by DuPont and the Power Inks. Those have been officially replaced by the new range named Texjet Inks.

If you are still a user of the Polyprint Inks powered by DuPont follow the below guidelines:

CMYK: 120 seconds at 160 oC (320 F) in a heat press, or 4-6 minutes at 170 oC in an oven dryer. CMYKW: 210 seconds at 160 oC (320 F) in a heat press, or about 8 minutes at 170 oC in an oven dryer.

*The Polyprint Inks powered by DuPont line will be discontinued by the end of the year 2022.*
